Disabled youngsters want the same things as all young people - peer friendships, to be treated as young adults, going out, control over their lives and looking forward to living as independent adults one day.
Our Towards Independence programme trains disabled young people in domestic and other practical life skills such as handling money and using public transport. Training sessions take place in a replica house. The young people learn everything from using washing machines to dealing with utility bills. Students develop the skills and confidence required to
make decisions, as well as earning an Open College Network qualification for completing the course, helping them take their first steps towards living independently.
