Young people with disabilities face a number of obstacles, quite apart from mobility. These young people lack opportunities for work and training; they also have very little autonomy in their daily lives. Disability raises issues for the whole family, creating challenges for parents and siblings. Action For Kids helps by equipping disabled young people for the work place. We also teach life skills.
Action For Kids are firm believers in participation. The students are involved in many aspects of our work, such as the administration of our monthly charity raffle. Our Young People's Forum gives the kids a real say in the charity's activities and students are encouraged to take an active role, for example as peer mentors, looking after younger students.
