The spookiest charity challenge around!

/evnts/fright_hike_1

We are calling all walkers, trekkers and brave thrillseekers to put your nerve and stamina to the test with this hair-raising challenge. Walkers are invited to forests in four spooky locations to tackle a 30km course in one nail-biting night! Do you dare find a Fright Hike near you?!

Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire - Saturday 25th October 2014

This famous forest is said to be home to a variety of spirits and legends, the best known of course must be Robin Hood. Watch out for the misty figure of The White Lady of Rufford Abbey, one of the most haunted places in England and close by our route. I'm brave, sign me up now!

Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, Stirling - Saturday 25th/evnts/fright_hike_2 October 2014

Ghosts are abundant throughout Scotland and Stirling is no exception; look out for the old ruined Kirk in Aberfoyle, with two large mortuary weights, used to stop thieves from making off with freshly interred bodies. Pastor Robert Kirk’s spirit is said to be imprisoned in a pine on the nearby Doon Hill.

Epping Forest, London - Saturday 1st November 2014

The perfect location with ghostly sites like ‘Hangman's Hill’, where three witches were reputedly hanged, and the hunting ground of the legendary highwayman, Dick Turpin; numerous sightings of a ghost wearing a tricorn hat, riding a horse have been reported in the forest. Trek here if you dare!

Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire - Saturday 1st November 2014

By day, the Forest of Dean is a welcoming place with an enchanting and unique character of its own, but as evening draws into night, there are tales of strange happenings and uncanny places. Beware of ‘The Jailer’ of Littledean Jail, which stands at the Gateway to the Forest; children as young as 8 years old were incarcerated here, whose cries have been heard late at night.
